Mario Batali is coming to town
I'm so frickin' excited ... one of the new Iron Chefs is going to be coming to town to promote his new book, Molto Italiano. He's doing a signing with a tasting at his father's cured meat shop, Salumi, a place that I've been meaning to check out in town. Time to kill two birds with one stone. You know, I would like to hang out with Mario ... I've got an idea on how to do that, but in order to do that, I'll need to stop by Salumi ... looks like I'll be heading there tomorrow instead :)
Honestly, I've never purchased any of his cookbooks before, but I've always been a fan of his, watching him on TV and visiting Babbo in NYC. On TV he always came across as enthusiastic, genuinely interested in educating people about food. At Babbo, it was amazing to see how well he had setup his restaurant and how well it was run, even though he wasn't there. And he had hearty, traditional dishes that foodies would love ... pig's foot milanese, lamb's brain ravioli. Sure I'm classically French trained, but I'll appreciate any cuisine that takes offal to that level.

Marty, too early for me to call so will blog. Got new job. Mostly guerillas and south-side animals, but it's paying the bills. Chef is a great guy. Very nice. So that stands for a lot. As for Mario when your done giving him chupies (you'll find out what it means soon enough)let me know if his verga tastes like capocola. J.k. I read your blogs below about your disaster day and your summation of it all was perfect. If you have a bad attitude about the shit you couldn't prevent from happening, then your sure-as-shit going to have a really bad attitude towards the shit that you CAN prevent from happening, like being a fucking slob,(ref:previous Marty blog below). And besides, if you can't one day look back at this twisted business one day and just laugh, than what was the point anyhow. I wonder if Keller or Trotter are going to look back and laugh? Proably not. Most likely no. You'll proably be able to find them both playing checkers together or doing watercolors at the nearest Bellview Hospital. Just a thought. Bye Marty. I'm proud of you. P.S. I tried getting a blogger account and it wouldn't accept any of my usernames. Que pasa? This is Stefan, if you haven't figured it out by now.
How was Mario's appearance at Salumi? I wasn't able to make it. BTW, make sure you try the pork cheek sandwich, and lamb prosciutto!
